What Others Have Said General "Thank you for treating us like we have brains in our heads." Janitor at shelter after The Good Person of Szechwan "You make me feel like at least someone in the community considers me worthy of experiencing joy in my life. Not to mention that it makes me feel a part of that community—which is something that many of us have never really experienced." Male inmate after The Good Person of Szechwan "I always thought theater was just for yuppies but this is cool!" Homeless man after The Ballad of the Sad Café "This is exactly what we need to see before going out in the real world." Female inmate after Shakespeare's Cymbeline "This is the first play I ever saw. It beats TV any day." Single dad after The Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol "I laughed so hard here—I can't even remember the last time I laughed." Inmate after Emperor of the Moon "I was ready to tune you out with my walkman, but you guys really shocked me." Homeless youth after Life's A Dream Il Campiello
"Thank you! The play was awesome! During the lunch directly after the play, I thought the kids might be a bit worked up but they were quietly talking at their tables. I could hear the conversation at the table behind me and they were asking each other what their favorite part of the play was. Not only have the students been talking about it, the staff have talked about it for the past two days as well. Students have talked about it being their first experience seeing a play and how surprised they were to enjoy it. Thanks again. We can't wait for you to perform again!" Staff at a Juvenile Detention Center after Il Campiello "That was awesome. It is great to have you here. This takes us away and gives us other interests." Male Inmate after Il Campiello "I just wanted you to know that I have had 5 men this morning stop me in the hallway to tell me about how good the play was yesterday. I even had officers tell me they thought it was very good. Typically in this environment, you don’t get inmates or CO’s for that matter go out of their way to let me know how good a program was. Even if they think so, they usually do not take the time to verbalize it to me." Staff at a Men’s Prison after Il Campiello "Thank you for coming to us and bringing the joy and sadness. I have just moved here two weeks ago and this is a good part of making this my new home." Resident at Cerenity Senior Care after Il Campiello "I recently attended a performance of Il Campiello at the JCC, and I enjoyed myself thoroughly! I haven't laughed that much in a long time! Thank you for coming into my neighborhood to perform. You make my life richer with your presence." Patricia at St Paul JCC after Il Campiello Man of La Mancha
"The amazing thing is that TTT does this all with no set! They trust us to use our imaginations to fill in the gaps!." Resident at Parker Skyview Manor after Man of La Mancha "David and I attended Friday nights performance of Man of Lamancha. I have seen this play at least twice before and have been moved each time, but Friday nights show was incredible!!! Steven and Luverne made the perfect pair, along with the other actors each adding their own special talents to the overall show. The Impossible Dream took on a whole new meaning in the emotion-filled rendition by Steven. We attend many theater productions throughout the Twin Cities. Ten Thousand Things remains at the top of our list of the place to go for an OUTSTANDING theater experience - always!!! Mary after Man of La Mancha Doubt, A Parable
"This is one of the finest things done by a company that usually does fine things. This production plays on the power inequities far more than I remember from the movie. In so doing it’s a more powerful and thought provoking piece." Wanda after Doubt, A Parable "Once again, Ten Thousand Things Theatre has astounded the landscape... Bringing my students to the production - just existing in a static space, yet filled with emotion, tension and expectation - was one of the most powerful opportunities in the last few years. The way the story was addressed, the power of the laser-like focus of the direction and the environment of open awareness made the time pass like a heartbeat. WE held our breath and our hearts in our throats. Thank you thank you thank you!" Harry after Doubt, A Parable Life's a Dream
"It was an excellent performance. I think the idea behind the story is brilliant. Especially for women like us." Female inmate after Life's a Dream "I had a chance to see Life’s a Dream at Leech Lake Tribal College. It was fantastic! What an opportunity it was to have a professional play brought right to our door. The actors made the stage come alive - it was magical and for a time, I actually was in Poland at that tower and at the castle. Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity." Susan after Life's a Dream "Just saw the show yesterday. If I had a thousand roses I'd spread them at your feet. Not a weak moment or a false note anywhere in the production. A Shakespearian tragedy.....with a happy ending. Wow." Bridget after Life's a Dream My Fair Lady
"I loved that you talked the song, Show Me. The whole time I was like, yeah, that’s what I’m talking about!" Female inmate after My Fair Lady "I cannot tell you how much my family and I LOVED My Fair Lady. We all agreed that it was the best, most real, gritty, well-cast performance of this musical we had ever seen. You and your cast and director got to the core of the issues addressed---classism, sexism---and you did it with heart and humor. 10,000 Things Theater provided me with a most memorable Mother's Day. I have told everyone I have encountered since seeing it that they MUST see this show. Congratulations on another job well done." Karla after My Fair Lady Stones In His Pockets
"You made me cry and laugh! Real Tears! This really means a lot to a lot of us." Female inmate after Stones In His Pockets "Friends took my husband and I to Saturday's performance of Stones In His Pocket at Open Book, our first exposure to Ten Thousand Things. We were mesmerized, moved, enchanted and enthralled! Not only were the performances superb (with Epp and Lichtscheidl how could they be less . . .) but the script itself was hilarious, poignant, and one of the most unique we've ever seen -- and we've been avid theater goers for years!" Sharon after Stones In His Pockets Othello
"It is not often that events at our school bring about the positive reaction your Othello production accomplished. A few weeks have passed since the Oct. 21 performance and students still express how much they enjoyed the play. I know the students wrote thank you letters, also a task they did willingly and sincerely. I just wanted to add after the fact what a wonderful experience it was for all of us, teachers included! I am a theater fan and proud to say a "new" Shakespeare fan. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. What a joy it would be to see you again." Kevin at Arrowhead Juvenile Facility after Shakespeare's Othello "I loved it - the passion - I’ve never liked Shakespeare till now. At first I thought it’d be boring, but I loved it." Teenager after Shakespeare's Othello |
