Stephen D'Ambrose

Ten Thousand Things, not a very big number by today's standards. But, still, it opens the imagination to an infinite amount of possibilities especially when you put theatre behind it. I've had the good fortune to make my living as a stage actor for over 25 years. I've worked at many theaters here in the Twin Cities and around the country. Interpreted many characters, challenged audiences to suspend their disbelief. The experience I have had with TTT is unmatched by all this. King Lear, The Tempest, Good Person of Szechwan, Most Happy Fella. As an audience member I've seen Cyrano, Unsinkable Molly Brown, Waiting for Godot, Merchant of Venice, Measure for Measure, Emperor of the Moon, etc... During my time with TTT, whether performing or watching in a formal "theater going" venue or high security prison or homeless shelter, every time, my faith in the possibilities of art to bring people together, to speak truths, to experience life as it is happening has been renewed. There's nothing like being placed in the middle of the action while watching a story unfold. It's the closest "virtual" you can come to reality. To speak Shakespeare's lines directly to an inmate who, by their response, you know understands the emotion of the words better than any acting, they have lived it. Whenever working with or watching a Ten Thousand Things production I have grown as an artist and a human being. I always believed that Theater was for everyone. TTT brings this possibility to life.
