Terry Hempleman
Terry's first production with TTT was Ballad of the Sad Cafe in '98. During the first performance of that show at the Dorothy Day center in St. Paul, an audience member stood up from his chair, walked into the playing area where Terry was in the middle of a monologue, and high fived him. I guess that's what we call connecting with your audience. Since then, Terry has acted with TTT in The Three Lives of Lucy Cabrol, Cymbeline, The Most Happy Fella, Miss Julie, Carousel, and Cyrano. He has helped build sets for a couple of shows and assistant directed King Lear.
Production values are minimal in TTT shows, and it reminds you that the simple ritual of living human beings coming together to listen while another living human being stands up and tells a story is essential and can be magical.
Terry's recent work as an actor includes Last of the Boys at the Jungle, Huck Finn at CTC, His Girl Friday at the Guthrie, and Of Mice and Men at Park Square. He produced the critically acclaimed American Sublime, and directed the Fringe Festival hit Why Actors Can't Love. He was named Best Actor in the Twin Cities by the City Pages for 2003, but his greatest achievement in life is teaching his cat to roll over (the secret is rolling your R's) "RRRoll oveRRR LemuRRR."
