Vera Mariner

Vera is committed to the work of Ten Thousand Things for life.

One could possibly say that she is serving a happy life sentence with this theater company.

Her credits with TTT are numerous as an actor: Most Happy Fella, Annabella Eema, Carousel and Ragtime. And in her-love hate relationship as a costume designer ( ok, so there was an award) for Good Person of Szechuan, Antigone, In the Garden and Little Shop of Horrors. Michelle has forced Ms. Mariner to use parts of her brain that possibly were never developed as a child in order to execute her directorial vision with effective designs.

All in all, work with TTT has been a growth process and love affair on many levels. As an actor, a designer, but now as an activist for social justice. Who knew!!!

After the first performance, of the first TTT show she ever did, in a correctional facility, Vera has studied, read, pondered and agonized about prisons and their occupants. Many heated debates and fights over dinner tables have occurred as a result of her observations and opinions. But she has managed to hold on to all her friends and husband. Now, that passion is actually a practice in that she is a volunteer for the Innocence Project, Minnesota.

I supposed she put TTT's money where her mouth was. Oh, and,

She can be found watching Lockup on msnbc on Friday nights.

As far as other theater and work in the Twin Cities, well you may know her as a singer (oooo, can they really act? The answer is, I think so!!!) She's played the big house and the big kid's house and is an artistic associate with her beloved Theater Latte Da and sings all over the country with orchestras as well as having a passionate commitment for physical theater and making new work. (loves Anne Bogart).

Put all that in a soup pot and it makes for a nicheless artist. But don't call her a woman without a country, because at the end of the day, she can click her heels three times and on that first day of rehearsal say, "Honey, I'm home!"
